Dr. Santosh Maurya (about 16 years of experience), an Ayurveda expert posted at the District Ayurveda Hospital in Khargone, Madhya Pradesh, told Local 18 that the Tesu tree is also called Khakhra and Palash in Nimar. Tesu flowers bloom only in the month of Phalgun. This is considered a message from nature. Holi should be played by making colors from Tesu flowers only.

Dr. Santosh Maurya told Local 18 that to make color from Tesu flowers, first pluck the flowers. Then dry them in the shade. When completely dry, dissolve the flowers in water. After this it can be used like normal colors in Holi.

While talking to Local 18, Ayurveda expert Dr. Maurya told that Tesu is considered a medicinal plant in Ayurveda. Along with making colors, it is also used in the treatment of skin related problems. If diabetic patients dry Tesu flowers and consume them in powder form, they will get benefit.
