As far as the appearance is concerned, its shape is round instead of oval like litchi and its color is light brown and green instead of red. The special thing is that this fruit is harvested after the litchi season ends, in which it is not attacked by insects like litchi.

Dr. Dhiru Kumar Tiwari, working as a subject matter expert at Krishi Vigyan Kendra located in Madhopur of Majhauliya block, says that people can enjoy Laungan as soon as the litchi season ends. It is a very juicy fruit whose taste is quite similar to litchi. Fruits start coming two years after planting the tree. This fruit can be cultivated well in Bihar including West Champaran district. Since the land and climate here are very suitable for the cultivation of Laungan, farmers will not have to work hard in the gardening of this fruit.

Dr. Dhiru tells that farmers who want to cultivate Longan have to dig pits for it just like litchi. Pits are prepared in May-June and it is planted in July. For this, you will get plants in Muzaffarpur Litchi Research Center. Farmers can start its gardening by taking 1 year old plant. According to scientists, this fruit has high amount of vitamin C. Along with this, elements like vitamin K, protein, riboflavin, omega 3 and 6, carbohydrates, carotene, thiamine and fiber are also found in it. The special thing is that due to the presence of anti-cancer elements in it, it also protects from deadly diseases like cancer.
