The auto sector of the country has been going through a lot of difficulties for the last few months. On the one hand the shortage of semiconductor chip has affected the production, on the other hand the sales of vehicles are also seen decreasing. Amidst all this, the WagonR, which is called Maruti’s tall boy in the passenger car segment, has occupied the number one position, beating everyone.
While the sales of the country’s leading automakers have slowed down, Maruti WagonR has become the country’s best-selling car in the month of November. This position has been mostly occupied by Maruti Alto, but this time it has also slipped to the third position. At the same time, Maruti Swift has become the second best selling car.
If we look at the sales figures, Maruti Suzuki has sold 16,853 units of WagonR in the month of November, which is about 36.6% more than the 12,335 units sold in the last October month. On the other hand, a total of 14,568 units of Swift occupied the second position have been sold, which was only 8,180 units in the month of October.
The magic of Maruti Alto is diminishing:
The country’s cheapest car Alto has reached the third position, the company has sold a total of 13,812 units during this period, which is 20.6% less than 17,389 units sold in the month of October. There is a huge drop in the sales of Alto, the biggest reason for this is that the company has not given it any update for a long time. Its facelift model was introduced in the last year 2019, and now its next generation model is being worked on, which has also been seen during testing on several different occasions.
Experts believe that one of the reasons for the lack of interest in the Maruti Alto among the customers is that now they are getting other better options in the market. Apart from this, customers are now turning towards cars with better features and space instead of entry level cars. The sub-four meter compact-SUV segment has become one of the fastest growing in the last few years and many new models like Nissan Magnite, Tata Punch, Renault Triber have entered this segment.
How is Maruti’s tall boy:
The Maruti WagonR is still very popular among the people. This hatchback car also comes with the company fitted CNG kit in total 3 variants. This car comes with two petrol engines (1 liter and 1.2 liter). Apart from this, it is also available with CNG kit. Equipped with 5-speed manual and automatic gearboxes, its petrol variant gives a mileage of 20 to 21 kmpl and the CNG variant gives a mileage of 32 kmpl. Its price ranges from Rs 4.93 lakh to Rs 6.45 lakh.
