‘This is a revelation of the dirty politics of the INDI alliance’, Prime Minister Modi raised questions by sharing the video of Union Minister Anurag Thakur

New Delhi. Former Union Minister and BJP MP Anurag Thakur on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on opposition leader Rahul Gandhi during the discussion on the budget in the Lok Sabha. Without taking Rahul Gandhi’s name, Thakur pointed towards him and said, “Whose caste is not known, he talks about caste census.” After this comment, opposition parties protested strongly, while BJP leaders supported Thakur. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also supported Anurag Thakur’s speech. Sharing the video of Anurag Thakur’s address on the social media platform X, he wrote, “My young and energetic colleague Anurag Thakur must be heard. He presented the facts in a brilliant manner and exposed the dirty politics of the indie alliance.”

In his address, Thakur took a dig at Rahul Gandhi by referring to Mahabharata and Abhimanyu. He also targeted the Congress and the Gandhi family, saying that they themselves are like a “Chakravyuh”. Thakur questioned Rahul Gandhi on the issue of caste census and said, “The one who does not know his own caste, talks about caste census.”

Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav strongly retaliated to this statement. Rahul Gandhi said, “The ruling party can abuse as much as it wants, but we will continue to raise the issue of caste census.” Akhilesh Yadav also condemned Thakur’s remarks, saying, “How can anyone ask someone’s caste?” BJP leaders are supporting Anurag Thakur, while opposition parties have strongly criticized his statement. With this development, the issue of caste census has once again become the center of political debate.
