All All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi is not the best hospital in the country for no reason. The doctors here are like God to the patients. That is why AIIMS came as a place of God for a woman whose seven children had died in the womb and the eighth child was also about to die and the miracle that happened after that is astonishing.
When a poor woman from a village in Haryana came to AIIMS, 7 of her children had died in the womb. Dozens of doctors around her had told her that she would not be able to become a mother, however, after five years of marriage, she decided to become pregnant once again. This time she was going to become a mother for the eighth time but the same thing was going to happen to her again that the antibodies formed in her body were killing her child inside the womb itself.

This is called a miracle! The child was about to die in the womb, suddenly blood came from Japan and then a miracle happened in AIIMS
Dr. Neena Malhotra, HOD, Gynecology and OBS Department, AIIMS Talking to New18hindi, she says that after looking at the history, all the tests of this woman who came to AIIMS were done. Although diagnosing this blood group was very critical, the hematology department of AIIMS not only examined the blood but also the genes, in which it was found that this woman had Rh negative blood group, which was not able to be transferred to the child. Also, this woman had antibodies that would kill this child as well, so the only way to save this child was to give this blood to the child inside the mother’s womb.
Blood not available in India
Dr. Neena says that Rh negative blood group is the rarest of the rare and only one in a lakh people have it. In such a situation, to save the child, this blood was searched in all the big hospitals and blood banks of India but this blood was not found here. Although an Indian person with this blood group was found in the international rare blood panel, he refused to donate blood. After this, the demand for this rare blood was made in front of the International Blood Registry, in which the Red Cross Society of Japan said that this blood is available.
Blood reached India in 48 hours
After that, 4 units of this blood were immediately sent from Japan to India. Within 48 hours, this blood reached AIIMS in India and was transfused to the baby inside the woman’s womb. After this, the woman delivered and a healthy baby girl was born.
Many cases have come to AIIMS, but this is the first of its kind
Dr. Neena says that usually blood is needed only in case of an accident, surgery or during pregnancy. AIIMS gets 5 or 6 such cases every week in which blood is not transfused from the mother to the child and the woman and the child need blood transfusion, but this was the first case in which the Rh negative mother and child were saved by identifying different genes, ordering rare blood from outside and transfusion to the child in the womb.
Not only doctors but social support system is also necessary
Dr. Neena says that in this case, as much hard work was done by the AIIMS doctors, the AIIMS blood bank, NGO, social support system also did the same, which is why after taking permission from many places in India and demanding blood at the international level, blood could be procured from Japan so quickly and the child’s life was saved.
This is a case of last year, now it is published in a journal
Dr. Neena says that this case is actually from last year, when this woman came to AIIMS. Since this was the first case in India when the child could be saved by identifying the gene and getting the rarest blood from abroad. Therefore, it was sent to an international journal. Where it has just been published.
