Anjali Singh Rajput/Lucknow: The loud noise of metropolitan cities is making people deaf. Especially among the auto-taxi drivers who drive day and night to take people to their destination, hearing loss and deafness are increasing rapidly. This reality has come to light in the research of the Community Medicine Department of King George Medical University. In this research, survey was conducted on about 150 drivers. It has been found in the survey that listening to noise up to 121 decibels for one hour will not have any adverse effect on the ears, but if you listen to noise of 133 decibels for one hour then you can become 100 percent deaf.
KGMU spokesperson Dr. Sudhir Singh said that this entire research has been carried out by Dr. Manish Manar of the Department of Community Medicine. Dr. Manish has prepared a model based on noise, which can tell how much noise can make you deaf for how many days. Through this, a person can estimate the duration and level of exposure to noise and find out for how many days he is safe. After this, how many days of noise will make him deaf? Dr. Sudhir Singh told that,. Dr. Manish is a resident of Lakhimpur and his background is in engineering. He has done B.Tech in Civil Engineering and M.Tech from IIT Roorkee, while he has done his PhD from KGMU.
Your ears can tolerate noise of only 121 decibels.
Dr. Sudhir Singh told that before preparing the model, a serious discussion was held with ENT specialist Dr. Virendra Kumar Verma. The hair on the inside of the ear does not grow again after birth. When there is noise, these hairs vibrate depending on the level of noise. Every time noise causes damage to these hair cells. Once these hairs are reduced, they do not grow back, so there is a level of exposure to noise throughout a person’s lifetime. It was measured in this study. It was seen that a person can easily tolerate noise of 121 decibels per hour. This does not cause any harm to his hearing ability whereas a noise of 133 decibels per hour can cause a person to become deaf.
Keep these things in mind
Dr. Sudhir Singh said that in such a situation it is important that people do not listen to loud music and loud noises. Do not honk your vehicles frequently on the roads. Do not keep too loud music on DJ. Due to which your hearing ability can remain intact for a long time and you can remain healthy.
