Medicinal properties are found in the medicinal plants found here. One such herb is Jambu (Jambu Medicinal Benefits). Jambu is a plant coming from the onion family. This is a herb which cures many diseases. So, it is a panacea for women related diseases. Be it periods pain or pain during delivery, it is used to reduce both. Its scientific name is Allium stracheyi. It is also known as Jambu/faran/Jimbu. Apart from the high Himalayan states of India, it is also found in Nepal and Bhutan.

Giving information, Dr. Abhishek Jamloki of Higher Himalayan Plant Conservation Research Center (HEPREK) says that many types of dense plants are found in the Himalayan regions. They have been used since ancient times to fight diseases and keep the body healthy. Jambu/Pharan, found in the high Himalayan areas of Uttarakhand, has many medicinal properties. This plant is useful in various diseases occurring in women. Dr. Jamloki explains that it is used to reduce menstruation and labor pain. Along with this, there is another disease known as leucorrhoea. Jambu is effective in this also.
Panacea for diabetes and constipation
It is further explained that Jambu is also used in various diseases related to stomach. It is also proven effective in diseases like indigestion, constipation, gas, diabetes etc. Jambu contains 4.26 percent protein, 0.1 percent fat, 79.02 percent fiber and carbohydrates, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium and potassium. Also, after drying Jambu leaves, it is used as a seasoning in pulses and vegetables. It enhances the taste of food.
Haprek is working for Jambu agriculture
This plant is in great demand in the international market, due to which Jambu is being exploited rapidly. This is the reason why Jambu or Faran plants are seen in very few places now. In such a situation, if farmers use Jambu plant for farming, it will strengthen their economy and the plant will also be conserved. Dr. Jamloki tells that under the guidance of Prof. VK Purohit, Director of the Research Center of High Peak Plant Care, work is being done in the field of conservation of Jambu saplings and agriculture. Heprek has also got success in this.
