Delhi Capitals team has to play its next match in the 17th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) against Royal Challengers Bangalore team on 12th May. In this match, Delhi team will play on the field without its regular captain Rishabh Pant, who has been suspended for 1 match for violating the slow over rate rule for the third time this season. Meanwhile, DC team’s head coach Ricky Ponting has confirmed in the press conference held before the match against RCB that all-rounder Akshar Patel will take over the responsibility of captaining the team in this match.
Akshar is an experienced player
Before the match against RCB, Ricky Ponting said on the decision of appointing Axar Patel as the captain in this match, he has been handling the responsibility of vice-captain for the team continuously for the last few seasons. Akshar is counted among the experienced players in IPL, and he also has a lot of experience in international cricket. He is also very excited to handle this responsibility. We had already started the discussion in the team that if Pant has to face a ban, then in such a situation which player should be handed over the captaincy of the team. In this, the letters appeared to us to be a better option. I hope he will lead the team better in this match.
