Isha Biroria/Rishikesh: Bhastrika Pranayama is an important yogic breathing technique. It involves breathing in and out quickly and forcefully. It is also called ‘bellows breathing’. Bhastrika Pranayama increases the amount of oxygen in the body, improves blood circulation, and provides mental peace. Doing it regularly strengthens the lungs and reduces stress.
During a conversation with Local 18, Yogini Rashmi of Yogipi Yogashala of Uttarakhand told that Bhastrika Pranayama is very beneficial for the digestive system, liver and kidneys. If you do it for only 5 minutes in the morning, you will get many benefits from it. This asana is done more in winters and it is forbidden to do this asana in summers. Because it creates heat in our body. For this reason, those who have a complaint of high BP are forbidden to do this pranayama.
Do not do Bhastrika Pranayama in summer
Rashmi told that Bhastrika Pranayama should not be done in summers. Because it can increase the body heat. In this pranayama, fast and deep inhalation and exhalation increases the internal temperature in the body, which can cause discomfort in summers. In summers, the body needs to be kept cool due to the already high temperature. Therefore, doing Bhastrika Pranayama in summers can generate more heat in the body, which can cause problems like dizziness, sweating and fatigue. It is more beneficial to do it in cold weather or early in the morning.
