If you have not heard, then understand that due to excessive heat, the problem of kidney stones is increasing rapidly among the youth. Doctors say that due to this merciless scorching heat and not taking enough fluids, the cases of kidney stones have increased by 30 to 40 percent. These figures are of the capital Delhi, but more or less similar cases must be coming up in the whole country. Due to heat, this problem of kidney stones is especially increasing in the youth of 20 to 40 years of age. Therefore, you should understand why this is happening and how to deal with it.
Why kidney stones are formed in summer
In a TOI report, Dr. Mayank Gupta, Director of Urology Department at Dharmshila Narayana Hospital, explains that there are many reasons for the formation of kidney stones in summer. The first reason for this is dehydration. There is a lack of water in the body. Due to this, very little urine is released. When less urine is produced, the concentration of calcium, oxalate and uric acid in the kidney will start increasing. These three things are the factors for stone formation. That is, these three things come into solid state and form kidney stones. High temperature helps further in its formation. Due to this, these three things start crystallizing and start spreading in the kidney. When these three together start growing bigger, it becomes a kidney stone. The kidney stone becomes bigger and cannot come out through urine and gets stuck in the kidney. Dr. Anoop Gulati, Director of Urology at Escorts Fortis Hospital, Faridabad, said that due to excessive heat, saturation of lithogenic compounds starts in the urine, which increases the risk of kidney stone formation. He said that 30 to 40 percent cases of kidney stones have increased in the city and are occurring in both men and women.
What are the reasons for kidney stone formation
Dr. Rohit Kaushal, Senior Consultant, Urology Department, Max Superspeciality Hospital, Saket, says that people between the ages of 20 and 40 have to go out most of the time for studies or work. These people are more busy. If these people have more green leafy vegetables, caffeine products, chocolate, nuts etc. in their diet, then there is a high risk of oxalate formation from these foods. At the same time, people who consume more dairy products also have a higher risk of kidney stones.
