Any medicine or injection needs the approval of two organizations for sale in the Indian market. First, the approval of Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) and second, the approval of Drug Controller General of India (DCGI). This American weight loss injection has got the approval of CDSCO in India. It is likely that soon it will get approval from Drug Controller General of India as well. It is expected that weight loss injections will be available in medical stores in the next five-six months. It is being told that this injection will be available in India before December-2024.
Now the question is who can get this injection? If media reports are to be believed, people will not be able to get this injection without the advice of a doctor. The CDSCO panel has advised doctors to prescribe this injection very thoughtfully. The panel said that this injection cannot be given to those who already have problems like pancreas disease, thyroid, nausea, vomiting etc. If a doctor prescribes this medicine, he will also have to advise the patient to exercise and take a healthy diet. Only when the doctor feels that diseases are increasing due to weight, he can prescribe it.
