New Delhi. Those who want to travel from Delhi to Mata Vaishno Devi by road (via expressway) may have to wait a little. It passes through Haryana, Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir. This expressway was to be completed in December 2024, but it has got stuck in Punjab. However, the Road Transport and Highways Minister himself is trying to solve the problem.
The Ministry of Road Transport is constructing a 699 km long expressway from Delhi to Katra. Work on 268 km of this has been completed. Work is progressing rapidly in Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir, but in Punjab the work is progressing at a very slow pace. According to the ministry, there is a problem regarding land acquisition here. Due to this, the construction of the expressway is slow compared to other states.
Gadkari wrote a letter to the Chief Minister
Recently, Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has written a letter to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. In this, he has asked for a quick solution to the problem related to the expressway. Also, he has warned the Chief Minister that if the law and order situation in Punjab does not improve, then NHAI will cancel 8 projects worth Rs 14288 crore.
It is passing through these states
The Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Greenfield is passing through three states (Haryana, Punjab and Jammu Kashmir). This expressway will pass through Punjab for the maximum distance of 422 km. Haryana will have a 158 km long expressway. The expressway will start from Kundli Manesar Palwal (KMP) interchange and will pass through Jhajjar, Rohtak, Sonipat, Jind, Karnal and Kaithal districts. A lot of work has already been done in Haryana and Jammu Kashmir.
