People from states like Punjab to Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal are facing severe heat. The Meteorological Department had recently predicted rain with strong winds in Delhi-NCR, but the claims of IMD failed. On the other hand, the monsoon is continuously taking new areas under its grip in South India. Chennai received heavy rain with strong winds on Tuesday. Due to this, waterlogging occurred in many areas of the metropolis. Trees were also uprooted in many areas. Air services have also been affected due to rain at Chennai Airport.
According to the information, flights were affected on Tuesday due to heavy overnight rain in the city and its surrounding areas and trees were uprooted at many places. Airport officials said that due to the rain, many international and domestic flights have been delayed. They said that flights to and from Dubai, Delhi and Pune are also getting delayed. Trees were uprooted in some areas of the city including Kodambakkam and the municipal corporation employees removed them with promptness. On the other hand, due to the rain, people definitely got some relief from the scorching heat.

Heat wave hits from Uttarakhand to Bihar
While rain has shown its effect in Chennai, on the other hand, heat wave like conditions prevailed in states like Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu, Haryana, Delhi, Punjab. People in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and Odisha are also facing the torture of scorching heat. The temperature is constantly above 42 degrees Celsius. In many states, the temperature remained between 44 to 46 degrees Celsius. Due to the scorching heat, it has become difficult for people to even leave their homes.
Severe heat wave
On Tuesday, heat wave to severe heat wave conditions were observed in many parts of Uttar Pradesh, South Uttarakhand and some parts of Himachal Pradesh. The heat in Delhi broke years old records in the month of June. So far in June, the temperature of Delhi and surrounding areas has remained 42 degrees Celsius or above. The Meteorological Department has also issued an orange alert regarding the heat wave.
