Kiger is a popular car in the compact SUV segment in the Indian car market, due to its low price and huge space, people buy it fiercely, but recently the police confiscated three Renault Kiger compact SUVs. The incident took place in Maharashtra’s Indore where the police seized three cars with identical number plates. Let me tell you, what was the matter?
All three Kiger cars belonged to the same dealership, and had the same five-digit registration number. Traffic DCP Mahesh Chand Jain, Additional DCP Anil Patidar and their team stopped Renault Kiger for having a five digit registration number. After which the driver could not produce satisfactory paperwork regarding the vehicle, and due to this all the three cars were confiscated.
7 Invoices Pending
The driver said it is a demo car so it is from a dealership. However, the police reached the dealership and decided to go through the documents of the vehicle. At the dealership, the police found two more Renault Kigers that had the same registration number. Not only this, the dealership was not able to produce the documents of any car.

Besides, 7 e-challans were also pending for red-light violation on the same registration number. So, the police decided to tow the cars using a crane and confiscated them. To prevent tampering with the registration number plate, the government has introduced High Security Registration Plate or HSRP. At the same time, some states have made the use of HSRP mandatory. One thing to note here, is that this plate comes with a snap-on lock, and cannot be removed from the vehicle.
