Good news can come this year for the Indian fans of TikTok. In the year 2020, more than 250 Chinese apps were banned in India. These include very popular apps such as PUBG Mobile, Alibaba and TikTok. Now a report has revealed that Bytedance, the parent company of short video sharing platform TikTok, is working on a new partnership to return to India.
Let us know that Krafton launched the game Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) in May 2021. This game was brought to India instead of PUBG Mobile. And now ByteDance may bring the popular TikTok app to India with a new partner. Along with re-entering the market, the company is also planning to hire its former employees.
According to a report in Economic Times, talks between Bytedance and Hiranandani Group have started for partnership in India. Hiranandani Group is Mumbai based and does a big business of real estate in cities like Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai in the country. Apart from this, the group has recently launched a new consumer service called Tez Platforms. and also runs data center operations under Yotta Infrastructure Solutions. It is expected that in this new business, the company can invest up to Rs 3,500 crore in the next 2 to 3 years.
According to the report, the talks between ByteDance and Hiranandani Group are still in the early stages. The report further said that the central government officials have been informed about this. A senior government official confirmed to ET, “We have not had any formal talks so far. But we have been informed about the plan. We will scrutinize the application when we get the approval. Along with this, it was told in the report that ByteDance is rapidly recruiting new employees in India.
If Tiktok makes a comeback in India, then maybe it should be launched under a new name instead of Tiktok. Let us tell you that Tiktok will have to follow the rules of the Government of India with the return and store the user data in India and not outside the country. According to the report, ByteDance’s legal head Gautam Vohra left the company in August 2021 and has recently rejoined ByteDance this year as Head of Legal, South Asia and Regional Council, Middle East. Let us tell you that this time Tiktok will get a tough competition from other apps like Instagram Reels, Youtube Shorts, Snapchat, ShareChat, Moj, MX Takatak, Chingari in the country when it is relaunched.
