Trinamool Congress, which won a landslide victory in West Bengal in the Lok Sabha elections, has started making further strategies. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee held a meeting with the party’s newly elected MPs and senior leaders on Saturday and discussed the party’s strategy in the Lok Sabha. This meeting of Trinamool Congress leaders started at 4:30 pm and was going on till the time of writing the news.
At the beginning of the meeting, Mamata congratulated the newly elected MPs of the party, especially those who have been elected for the first time, including Yusuf Pathan, Rachna Banerjee, Mitali Bagh, Jagdish Chandra Burma Basunia. Trinamool has maintained its dominance in Bengal and the party has won 29 out of 42 Lok Sabha seats in the state. In the state, the seat count of the main opposition party BJP decreased to 12, while the Congress won only one seat.
Apart from the party’s Lok Sabha members, Rajya Sabha members and district presidents also participated in the meeting. A party leader had earlier said, ‘During the meeting, the party’s role and strategy in the Lok Sabha will be discussed. The party can also decide who will be the leader of the Trinamool Congress in the Lok Sabha.’ In the last Lok Sabha, 75-year-old Trinamool MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay was the party’s leader in the lower house of Parliament. Bandyopadhyay has retained his hold on the Kolkata North Lok Sabha seat for the fourth consecutive time.
