Kolkata. Doctors across the country are protesting against the rape and murder of a female doctor at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal. The doctors have also gone on strike. Now Sukhendu Shekhar Roy, Rajya Sabha MP of Mamata Banerjee’s ruling party TMC in West Bengal, has also announced to join the protest against the rape and murder of the female doctor. Sukhendu Shekhar Roy says that he will go with the protesters because like millions of Bengali families, he too has a daughter and a young granddaughter. The statement issued by Sukhendu Shekhar Roy is also raising questions on the police of the Mamata Banerjee government.
Tomorrow I am going to join the protesters particularly because I’ve a daughter and little granddaughter like millions of Bengali families. We must rise to the occasion. Enough of cruelty against women. Let’s resist together. Come what may.

Sukhendu Shekhar Roy, however, did not express confidence in the CBI investigation, but said that we should rise to the occasion. The TMC MP has also said that there has been a lot of cruelty against women. Whatever happens, we all should come together and protest against this incident. Sukhendu Shekhar Roy also raised the question that who are the people who raped and murdered in RG Kar Medical College? He has also raised the question that why efforts are being made to save the beasts? This move of Sukhendu Shekhar Roy can further heat up the atmosphere against the ruling TMC government. A user told Sukhendu Shekhar that his boss will expel him from the party. To this, Sukhendu replied that he does not worry about it. The blood of a freedom fighter is running in his veins.
The lady doctor was on night duty at RG Kar Medical College. She went to rest in the seminar room at around 2 am. The 31 year old lady doctor was raped and then murdered. During the rape, the lady doctor was brutally abused. In this case, Kolkata Police has arrested a civic volunteer named Sanjay Rai. The family members of the deceased doctor allege that an attempt is being made to cover up the case and the government machinery was earlier calling the murder a suicide. The Calcutta High Court has handed over this case for CBI investigation.
