New Delhi. The southwest monsoon is advancing in many parts of the country. The monsoon has advanced in some more parts of Goa, Karnataka and Telangana. During the next 3-4 days, conditions are favorable for the advancement of monsoon in the remaining parts of Karnataka, some parts of South Maharashtra, some more parts of Telangana and coastal Andhra Pradesh, some parts of South Chhattisgarh and South Odisha. At the same time, a cyclonic circulation remains over northeastern Assam. Strong winds are blowing from the Bay of Bengal to the northeastern states.
Due to their impact, widespread light to moderate rains with thunder, lightning and strong winds (30-40 kmph) are likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during the next 7 days. At the same time, a cyclonic circulation remains over South Tamil Nadu and its adjoining areas. The second cyclonic circulation remains over the west-central Bay of Bengal adjoining the southwest Bay of Bengal off South Coastal Andhra Pradesh-North Tamil Nadu. Due to its impact, light to moderate rains with thunder, lightning and strong winds (30-40 kmph) are likely over Kerala, Mahe, Lakshadweep, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Karnataka.
