The hatchback segment has always been famous in the Indian market. Due to the low cost, better mileage and low maintenance, people like the cars of this segment the most. Japanese automaker Toyota is preparing to introduce the hatchback model of its famous car Yarish in this segment in the Indian market. Recently, this car has been spotted once again during testing. Once in the market, this car will mainly compete with the Maruti Swift.

Toyota Yaris is not a new name for the Indian customers, the company has already introduced the C-segment model under this name. But now it has been discontinued. Now the company is going to use this badge once again, but this time it will be used as a hatchback.
The testing model has been spotted somewhere in Uttar Pradesh, as per Express Drive, shared by Vaibhav Sharma. However, no information about this car has been shared by the company yet. The company’s Glanza is already present in the hatchback segment, which is based on the Maruti Suzuki Baleno.

The car seen during testing is the 4th generation model of the Yaris, which is based on Toyota’s TNGA platform. It is one of the best cars in its segment. The company has given this car a sporty design, it gets a large radiator grille along with upswept headlamps. Apart from this, some crease lines are also visible on the bumper, which give it a bold look. LED taillights can also be seen at the rear of the car.
Talking about the engine, the company offers Yaris in the global market with three different petrol engine options. Which includes 1.0L, 1.5L naturally aspirated and 1.5L hybrid engines. Which comes with 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual and CVT gearbox. However, this car does not offer the option of a diesel engine. The GR version of the Yaris is also available in the global market, which comes with a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine. It is being claimed that this variant is capable of catching 0 to 100 kmph in just 5.5 seconds.
At present, other information related to this car is yet to be revealed. The Fortuner and Innova Crysta are the best selling models in Toyota India’s vehicle portfolio, apart from the Glanza and Urban Cruiser based on Maruti Suzuki’s famous cars such as Baleno and Brezza.
