Toyota, one of Japan’s largest automakers, last month announced the launch of its first pick-up truck Hilux in India. The Hilux will be the first pick-up truck from Toyota in the country. A few weeks back, this pick-up truck was first spotted in the country during an ad-shoot in Cyber City, Gurugram (Gurgaon). Now recently the possible launch date of this pick-up truck has also been revealed.
May be launched on this day
According to a recent report, Toyota’s pick-up truck Hilux can be launched in the country on 23 January i.e. this month. However, due to the increasing cases of corona in the country, this launch date can be extended even further.
How much money can be spent?
Toyota is yet to reveal the official price of the Hilux in India. However, according to a report, about 28 lakh rupees may have to be spent to buy this pick-up.

Design and Features
Toyota has designed the Hilux to sport a sporty look as well as a robust design. This will make the off-roading experience better and more convenient. The pick-up truck will also get the Toyota logo on the large and shiny hexagonal front grille along with 18-inch large alloy spoke tires and LED headlamps and taillamps. Also Hilux gets 8-inch infotainment system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control, connected car technology, 7 airbags, vehicle stability control, low-range transfer case, hill-descent control, locking rear differential, auto-locking limited- Slip differential, keyless entry, hill-start assist, anti-theft alarm, whiplash protection front seats, ISOFIX child seat mount, ABS and many other great features will be seen.
Will be based on IMV platform
Toyota’s Hilux pick-up will be based on the company’s IMV platform. Earlier, Toyota’s two famous vehicles in India, the Fortuner and the Innova, are also based on the IMV platform and both of them are Toyota’s most popular vehicles in the country. In such a situation, due to the Hilux being based on the same technology platform, this pick-up truck is likely to hit the country soon.

Engine and gearbox
In India, Toyota company can launch its Hilux pick-up truck in two options, 2.4 liter diesel engine and 2.8 liter turbo-diesel engine. The 2.4-litre diesel variant will generate 148bhp power and 400Nm torque, while the 2.8-litre turbo-diesel variant will generate 201bhp power and 500Nm torque. Both the variants will also get a 6-speed gearbox with automatic transmission.
