The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is going to start the construction of ropeways at many religious and tourist places in the country. Work has already started at some places and will start at some places by this year.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is constructing urban ropeways. The first urban ropeway in the country is being constructed in Varanasi. Much of its work has been completed. According to the government construction agency NHLML, this year a target has been set to start the construction of more than 70 km of ropeways. Of these, the tender process for the construction of 40 km of ropeways has already begun. Bids have been invited for this. Soon the tender for the work will be issued and the work will be awarded. After which the work will begin. Along with this, the process of construction of the remaining ropeways is going on at a fast pace.
Ropeway will be built at these tourist places
According to NHLML, several state governments have been approached for ropeway construction at around 200 places. Among these, Kedarnath, Hemkund Sahib and Kathgodam to Nainital in Uttarakhand, Shankaracharya Temple in Kashmir, Brahmagiri to Anjaneri and Ramtek Temple in Maharashtra, Tikitoria Temple and Mahakal Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh, Sangam Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh, Kamakhya Temple in Assam, GIFT City in Gujarat, Tawang Monastery in Arunachal Pradesh are major religious and tourist places, where the process of ropeway construction has already started.

The central government has set a target of building more than 250 ropeways of more than 1200 km length in the country in the next five years. The special thing is that now urban ropeways are also being constructed. This will also include urban areas.
