Train trial run from Sangaldan to Reasi was successful
Trains will soon be seen running on the world’s highest railway bridge, Chenab Rail Bridge, built in Jammu and Kashmir. Built about 359 meters above the Chenab River, this bridge is the world’s highest rail bridge. Railway officials on Sunday inspected the newly built Chenab Rail Bridge between Sangaldan in Ramban district and Reasi in Jammu and Kashmir.
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw posted on social media platform X, writing, “The first trial train has run successfully from Sangaldan to Reasi, including crossing the Chenab Bridge. All construction work for USBRL is almost over, only tunnel number one is partially incomplete.”
USBRL project will be completed by the end of the year
The Udhampura Srinagar Baramulla Rail Link Project is expected to be completed by the end of this year. The project was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 20, 2024.
The bridge was constructed at a cost of Rs 1,486 crore.
Let us tell you that a total of 30,000 metric tonnes of steel has been used in the construction of the Chenab rail bridge. This bridge has been constructed at a cost of Rs 1486 crore. It can withstand wind speeds up to 260 km per hour. This bridge has been constructed under the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail link project. The train will reach Baramulla via 7 stations. Its purpose is to make the movement of the people of the valley easier.
