Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh). The excitement of Holi is visible since morning in Mahadev’s city Kashi. At various places, groups of youth and children were seen dancing to the tune of music. At the Godaulia intersection of Kashi, a crowd of youth was seen applying colors on each other and dancing to the music since morning. Along with the people of Kashi, a large number of foreign tourists were also drenched in the joy of Holi.
A wonderful view of Holi was also seen on the ghats of Kashi and people were seen celebrating the festival of colors to the fullest. Mahant Jitendra Mohan Puri of Batuk Bhairav Temple told that Holi in Kashi starts from Rang Bhari Ekadashi which was on March 20 this year.
He said that on the day of Ekadashi, Mahadev had brought Goddess Parvati to Kashi after performing Gauna and on that day Mahadev had played Holi with Gulal and from that day till Holi, there is an atmosphere of color and joy in Kashi. He told that on the second day of Rang Bhari Ekadashi, Mahadev had played Holi of pyre ashes with his entourage including ghosts and vampires in the crematorium and from then onwards the tradition of playing Holi of pyre ashes started.
By performing Rudrabhishek, CM Yogi prayed for the welfare of the world.
On the other hand, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Gorakshpeethadhishwar Yogi Adityanath is on a visit to Gorakhpur these days to participate in the special and heritage events of Rangotsav. On Monday, he performed Rudrabhishek in Gorakhnath temple and prayed to Devadhidev Lord Bholenath for the welfare of the people and the welfare of the world. Earlier on Sunday evening, he had participated in the Holika Dahan procession originating from Pandeyhata. On Tuesday, the CM will inaugurate the colorful procession of Lord Narasimha leaving the clock tower.
In the Shakti temple located on the first floor of the Gorakhnath temple residence, CM Yogi offered Vilva leaves, lotus flowers etc. to Devadhidev Mahadev and then performed Rudrabhishek with milk and sugarcane juice. The learned priests of the Math completed the ritual of Rudrabhishek by chanting the Mahamantras of Rudrashtadhyayi of Shukla Yajurveda Samhita. After Rudrabhishek, he performed Havan and Aarti amidst chanting of Vedic mantras. After the rituals were completed as per the rituals, he wished the people of the state a healthy, happy, prosperous and peaceful life. On the occasion of Rudrabhishek ritual, the head priest of Gorakhnath temple Yogi Kamal Nath, Mahamandaleshwar Santosh Das alias Satua Baba from Kashi, Dr. Arvind Chaturvedi, Ashwani Tripathi etc. were also present.
