Washington. India has given a strong message to other developing countries to deal with the challenges of globalization and trade handling business by rejecting the economic pressure made by the US on India’s major export products. A report said this on Saturday. According to the report, this concrete stance of India is a strategy to prioritize economic sovereignty rather than short -term benefits and maintain social stability, food security, employment and rural welfare for national development.
The report said that it is India’s priority to protect the agricultural sector, which is the support of crores of rural livelihoods. Decreasing duty on fish, dairy products and genetically modified crops such as agricultural imports will have a profound impact on rural income, increase the monopoly on the market and social fabric will deteriorate.
Apart from agriculture, this tariff will also affect industries such as textiles, apparel, gem-jewelery and auto parts, which depend on the US market. Despite this, India has adopted a strategy to reduce dependence on the same market and to diversify the trade partnership in the multi -polar world system. Under this, India has strengthened relations with groups like UK, European Union, ASEAN, BRICS and SCOs.
The report mentions that participation in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming SCO summit is a sign of a significant change in India’s foreign policy.
India is responding to the US tariff not only by public statements but also by giving a legal challenge to the World Trade Organization (WTO). India believes that this is the “illegal and unilateral punitive steps” of America. With this legal initiative, India is standing with those countries which are in favor of fair global trade.
According to the report, this attitude reflects India’s commitment to control the economic direction and is now making Indo-US relations more complex, conflict and sovereignty.
The report said, “India is creating a low Washington-centered and more multi-polar global trade environment with a balanced mix of legal routes, diplomatic efforts and domestic security measures.”
