Jodhpur. Two people, including a 14 -month -old child, died in a gas cylinder explosion in Gulab Sagar area of Jodhpur. At the same time, 14 others were severely scorched. The explosion occurred on Monday evening in a residential-cum-business building.
It is believed that the cause of the explosion caused a fire due to the furniture kept in the house, causing the fire to rapidly erupted.
According to officials, two seriously injured children have been referred to Umaid Hospital from MGH Burn Unit, where most of the injured are undergoing treatment.
Fire brigade teams reached the spot and the fire was controlled. However, family members are afraid that a person may still be trapped inside the house. The deceased have been identified as Hashim (14 months) and Sadia.
Mohammad Imran, a local resident of Nagauri Gate, said that family food was going on for 20-25 people leaving for Umrah (pilgrimage of Mecca and Medina).
The gas leaked while cooking at around 4.30 pm, causing fire and the fire spread rapidly due to the flammable furniture material in the house.
It is being told that the people of the house do furniture work.
District Collector of Jodhpur Gaurav Aggarwal said that 12 people had difficulty in breathing due to smoke and the fire has been controlled.
He assured that government assistance would be provided to the affected families.
Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has been informed about the incident and has issued necessary instructions to the police and administration for relief and assistance measures.
The Chief Minister has expressed grief over the loss of life and property.
Expressing deep grief over the accident, Sharma prayed for the peace of the departed souls. He wished the injured to recover early and instructed the officials to get proper and timely medical facilities.
