Two hardcore Naxalites were killed during an encounter on Wednesday morning on the Kondagaon-Narayanpur border of Chhattisgarh. Police also recovered an AK-47 rifle and bodies of killed Naxalites from the spot. IG Bastar P Sundararaj said that the search operation is going on in the area.
26 Maoists surrendered in Dantewada
Recently, 26 Maoists surrendered in front of senior police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) officials in Dantewada on Monday, promoting the anti -Naxal campaign in Chhattisgarh. Three of these had cash reward. The surrender district Reserve Guard (DRG) took place under the ongoing ‘Lone Vratu’ (return home) at the headquarters, which aims to re -include former militants in the mainstream of society. The joint efforts of the special rehabilitation policy of the District Police, CRPF and the state made it possible to surrender.
Under the new rehabilitation policy of the state government, every Maoist who surrenders will get Rs 50,000 as immediate assistance and will get many benefits including skill development training and agricultural land. The ‘Lone Vratu’ campaign has been very successful since its inception. So far 953 Maoists have surrendered – including 224 cash prizes.
The Chief Minister claimed that Naxalism in the state is almost ending
Earlier, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai credited his government’s efforts to work on rehabilitation policies, resulting in around 1,314 Naxalites surrendered. He said that Naxalism in the state is “taking its last breath”. CM told news agency ANI, “About 1,314 Naxalites have surrendered and the government is doing justice to them. We have arranged 15,000 Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana separately for them. We keep them in district headquarters and we are also working on their skill development so that they can get some employment. We also provide them jobs in the third and fourth category of government organizations according to their qualifications.”
