Jaipur. Bharat Adivasi Party (BAP) MLA Jaikrishna Patel from Bagidaura (Banswara) in Rajasthan has been facing serious allegations of corruption. The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) has recovered the bribe amount of the MLA – 20 lakh rupees – in the land of a house in Jaipur. This money was reportedly taken by Patel as bribe, which he tried to hide through his nephew and then other relatives. ACB raided Jaikrishna Patel’s official residence on 4 May. During this time a person escaped with a bag full of money from there. After this, ACB caught the MLA’s relative Jaswant with the help of mobile surveillance. During interrogation, Jaswant revealed that he had given the amount to his acquaintance Jagram living in Indira Gandhi Nagar in Pratapnagar, Jaipur.
The ACB team took Jaswant along and raided Jagram’s house, where the land was dug up and recovered 20 lakh rupees. During interrogation, it was found that the MLA had earlier handed over the money to his nephew Rohit. Rohit told Jaswant to give this amount to Jagram and hide it safely somewhere. Jagram and Jaswant together buried the money in the ground.
MLA reached barefoot in court
On Monday, the ACB team took Jayakrishna Patel to be produced by the Anti -Corruption Court in Jaipur. During this time he appeared barefoot. According to police officials, due to the strike of the lawyers, when they were being brought towards the court room, then their slippers broke, causing them to reach the court without slippers. However, slippers were arranged for him while returning.
Court sent two days remand
After the court appearance, the court handed over MLA Jaikrishna Patel and his cousin to ACB on two days remand. While exiting the court, Patel told the media, “I am being implicated, I did nothing.”
ACB’s action continues: After the arrest of the MLA, ACB has seized all CCTV footage of MLA quarters. Also, the forensic science laboratory (FSL) of the server room will be examined, so that it can be ascertained whether a video was removed before the raid.
This case of corruption has created a stir in state politics. Further investigation of ACB will decide who else is involved in this deep corruption.
