In yet another case of mistaken identity, security personnel opened fire and injured two civilians who were taken to the Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh on Saturday in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh. Security personnel launched an operation between Hollam and Khowathong areas of Tirap district and opened fire on Nokphua Wangpan and Ramwang Wangsu, who were returning home after fishing late Friday evening, injuring them, a district official said. .
Doctors at AMCH said that the civilians who sustained bullet injuries in their legs and arms are now out of danger.

The incident comes three months after 13 civilians were killed and several others injured in a failed military operation at Oting village in Nagaland’s Mon district.
