External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that the meeting of the External Affairs Ministry Consultative Committee on developments in Ukraine was completed recently. The strategic and humanitarian aspects of the issue were well discussed. A strong and unanimous message of cooperation was given in the effort to bring back all Indians from Ukraine. Under ‘Operation Ganga’, Indian citizens stranded in the war-torn country are being brought back safely.

In the meeting of the Parliamentary Consultative Committee, Congress MPs said that the interest of the country is paramount for all of us. Our suggestions are being given from a positive perspective. In the meeting, Rahul Gandhi, Anand Sharma and Shashi Tharoor said that the government did not take effective steps in time regarding the students trapped in Ukraine. We probably should have acted more quickly to get our people out of Ukraine. The advisory issued by the government initially was also confusing but not clear. Due to which most of the students stayed there.
It was said in the meeting that the Government of India should have used the country’s goodwill to mediate between the two countries. Rahul Gandhi said that for the time being we should get our students out of Ukraine on priority. He said that the situation of war is always challenging. However, he also praised the officers involved in the rescue operation and the mission. Congress MPs also said that we cannot adopt a partisan approach in the event of such a war. It is necessary for India that we remain neutral so that our people can get out safely.
