Ukrainian army.
Kiev: It has been nearly two and a half years since the Russia-Ukraine war. For the first time during this period, the Ukrainian army has entered Russia. This has created a stir in the Kremlin, the Russian presidential office. The armies of the two countries have been fighting a fierce battle in the border area for the last 36 hours. Russian President Vladimir Putin has described the Ukrainian intrusion in the country’s southwestern Kursk region as a ‘major provocation’. Kremlin officials said that Russia is countering cross-border raids for the second day. Ukrainian officials, on the other hand, have remained silent on the scope of this operation.
After the intrusion, the Ukrainian army is “indiscriminately shelling Russian civilian buildings, residential buildings, ambulances with various types of weapons”. This claim has been made by Putin himself. After Ukraine’s aggressive attack, Putin has held a meeting with his top defense and security officials. After this, he has instructed to give a befitting reply to the Ukrainian army. He instructed the cabinet to coordinate with regard to assistance in the Kursk region. This battle is going on at a distance of about 500 kilometers from Moscow.
Russia claims to have killed 100 Ukrainian soldiers
Russian news agencies reported that Russian army chief Valery Gerasimov, taking part in the meeting via video link, told Putin that about 100 Ukrainian soldiers had been killed and more than 200 wounded in the fighting. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in a statement that two people — a paramedic and an ambulance driver — were killed in Ukrainian shelling. However, it was not possible to independently confirm the Russian claim. This is the third year of the war, and disinformation and propaganda have played a central role.
Earlier, the acting governor of the Kursk border region, Alexei Smirnov, had appealed to people to donate blood on Wednesday due to the fierce fighting. Smirnov wrote on the ‘Telegram’ app, “For the last 36 hours our region has been strongly resisting the attacks of Ukrainian fighters.” (AP)
