New Delhi. Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) leader Chirag Paswan said after the parliamentary board meeting of his party on Wednesday that he is ready to contest Pashupati Kumar Paras from Hajipur Lok Sabha seat. Taking aim at his uncle Paras, he said that it is for him to decide whether he wants to stand with PM Modi or not.
Chirag Paswan said that there was consensus in the meeting that he will contest from Hajipur while the names of candidates for four other seats will be announced in a few days. BJP has decided to form an alliance with Chirag Paswan led LJP. Meanwhile, Pashupati Paras has resigned from the Union Cabinet in protest against BJP’s decision. When asked about Paras’ re-contesting from Hajipur Lok Sabha seat, the sitting MP from Jamui said that he is welcome to contest from there.
Chirag Paswan said, ‘It is for my uncle to decide. He has always said that he will always stand with Prime Minister Modi. Now he has to decide whether he wants to come in the way of NDA achieving its target of winning more than 400 seats.
Chirag Paswan said that he has faced many challenges in politics and is ready to face it. He made this comment in the context of a possible ‘uncle vs nephew’ fight in Hajipur.
He said that Hajipur has been the ‘workplace’ of his late father and famous Dalit leader Ram Vilas Paswan. He justified the decision to contest elections from Hajipur instead of Jamui. Chirag had won from Jamui in 2014 and 2019.
Paras had resigned from the post of Union Minister on Tuesday. He alleged that the BJP has done ‘injustice’ to his Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP) by keeping him out of the seat-sharing agreement with allies for the Lok Sabha elections in Bihar.
