Malik’s statement, which was widely discussed
“When I went to meet the Prime Minister on the issue of farmers, I had a fight with him within five minutes. He was very proud. When I told him, 500 of our people died, he (not he) said, died for me? I said, I had died for you, you have become the king….. I had a fight. He said, now you meet Amit Shah. I met Amit Shah. After this he made another statement that I am honest, so till now I have avoided the action of IT and ED. That is, Malik has also made it clear that those who are prosecuted by IT or ED are not honest.
Governor against the head of the government!
However, this was perhaps the first time in Indian history that a governor had spoken such harsh words against the head of the same government on whose cabinet’s recommendation he was appointed. Satyapal Malik was appointed during the regime of Narendra Modi. Malik has also been the governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Goa, Odisha and Bihar before Meghalaya. The Governor can give such statements only when he has realized that his days are coming to an end or political ambition is still left within him. It was believed to be pre-decided that Modi may not make the mistake of putting Malik in hiding because of his bitter statements before the Uttar Pradesh elections. Because the opposition would have got an opportunity to make it an issue while sitting. Malik’s statements have been a headache for the BJP.
Malik’s strong statements so far
Satyapal Malik kept troubling the Modi government with his anti-government statements during the farmer’s movement that lasted almost a year. First of all, he justified the demands of the agitating farmers against the three agricultural laws despite knowing that these are laws made by the Central Government passed by the Parliament and signed by the President who appointed them. He also supported that the central government should guarantee the MSP. 600 died among the agitating farmers since the whole year. This is the result of the wrong policies of the central government. Forgetting the constitutional dignity, like any leader of the opposition, he even said that I am standing with the farmers. He even predicted that ignoring the farmers’ protest would be a huge blow for the BJP. If the government does not listen to the farmers, BJP will lose the assembly elections in Punjab, Haryana, Western UP, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Come on, even if this advice of his is justified, doesn’t his issuing a public statement for this come under the category of an opposition leader’s statement? On the farmer’s movement, he had also said that the mood of the government is in the sky. They do not see the problems of the farmers. If the demands of the farmers are not accepted, this government will not come again.
300 crore bribe was offered
For the first time, he surprised everyone by talking about a bribe offer of Rs 300 crores when he was the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir. He had said- When I was the governor in Jammu and Kashmir, I was offered a bribe of Rs 300 crore. This offer was to be given in lieu of clearing two files, but I canceled the deal. The wonder is that when such an offer was made to him, he did not reveal it at that time. His eyes of wisdom opened several months after reaching Meghalaya. After leaving Jammu and Kashmir, he had questioned the working capacity of his counterpart. He had said – terrorists did not dare to enter when I was there. When I was the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, terrorists did not dare to enter within 50 km radius of Srinagar. Now terrorists are openly killing people everyday in Srinagar.
Want to take credit for return of agricultural law
Agricultural laws are now back. That’s why Malik sahib is not getting any issue to speak. So he now wants to take credit for it. That is why he made public his personal conversation with the Prime Minister. It also made us realize that under his own pressure, the Prime Minister took back the agriculture law. A person’s desire to take credit simply and flatly means that there is some ambition brewing or unfulfilled within him, to achieve which he can take any step, which fulfills his ambition.
