Underwear color… Another video of Karnataka HC judge goes viral, makes objectionable comment on female lawyer

A few hours after the video of Karnataka High Court judge Justice Vedavyaschar Srishanand calling a Muslim-dominated area of West Bengaluru ‘Pakistan’ went viral, another video of him has surfaced. In this video, he is seen making insensitive and objectionable remarks on a female lawyer. Senior lawyer Indira Jaisingh has also posted the video on social media and appealed to the Supreme Court to take cognizance of the matter. In this video, Justice Srishanand is seen reprimanding a female lawyer for answering a question asked by the lawyer of the opposing party. Justice Srishanand tells the female lawyer that she knows a lot about the opposing party, and she can also tell the color of his undergarments next time. Actually, a case was being heard in the Karnataka High Court during which he made this controversial comment.

The viral video begins with him asking a male lawyer, “You cannot write on a cheque just because it is blank. He will go to jail for 3 years. Do you understand that?” The lawyer replies that he does. The judge then asks him if the person referred to pays income tax. Before the male lawyer can answer, the opposing lawyer replies that the person being questioned is an income tax payer. The judge then reprimands her for asking why she is answering. He said, “Wait Amma.” She then apologises to the judge. Justice Sreesanand then laughs and says in Kannada, “You know everything about him. If asked tomorrow, you will tell what colour undergarment he wears.”

Indira Jaisingh demanded action

Justice Shrishanand’s smiling comment also makes the lawyers sitting in front of him laugh. Now people on social media are expressing their displeasure against this video as well. Many people have demanded strict action against the judge. Senior lawyer Indira Jaisingh posted the video clip on her x account and tweeted that Judge Shrishanand should be told what gender sensitivity is. Indira Jaisingh posted on x, “We appeal to the Chief Justice of India to take suo motu action against this judge and send him for gender sensitivity training.”
