A father cannot pass along his young daughter without hearing any lewd comments. This is extremely unfortunate. The Kerala High Court made this observation while rejecting the anticipatory bail plea of a man who made lewd remarks on a teenager. The accused had made indecent remarks on the girl and when her father objected, then attacked her as well. The court said that the accused had attacked the father of the teenager, who was a sub-inspector in the police. The accused first made indecent comments on his daughter and her and then on protesting, attacked him with a helmet and injured him.
Hearing this, the court said, ‘It is unfortunate that a person cannot go out on the road even with his daughter without hearing any derogatory remarks. Such things should stop. On the other hand, the accused said that the father of the 14-year-old girl had attacked him and his partner. To this, the court said that it would be a natural reaction of any parent when he hears derogatory remarks about his child. The accused, while seeking anticipatory bail from the court, said that if he had committed a murderous assault on someone, this bail could have been rejected. But in this case it should not be so.
The counsel for the victim said that the retired police officer was accompanying the 14-year-old girl. At the same time the accused made objectionable remarks on him. When the father objected to this, he was also attacked. After hearing both the sides, the court said that after knowing all the facts and circumstances, the court has come to the conclusion that anticipatory bail cannot be granted to the accused. The court said that if the accused surrenders before the investigating officer, then he will be produced before the court immediately.
