India’s Permanent Representative to the UN and Ambassador to Geneva Indramani Pandey on Friday said that as a friend and neighbour, India has always fulfilled its commitment to protect the rights of Tamils in Lanka. He further said that but it is in Sri Lanka’s own interest that the hopes of equality, justice, peace and dignity of Tamils there are fulfilled.
Ambassador Indramani Pandey made this statement on Friday on the Human Rights report of the High Commissioner. In this report, it has been said to promote harmony, accountability and human rights in Sri Lanka. He said that as a friend and responsible neighbor of Sri Lanka, India has consistently called for fulfilling its commitment to safeguard the rights of Tamils in Sri Lanka.
Indramani Pandey said that India believes that it is in its own interest to fulfill Tamils’ expectation of equality, justice, peace and respect in a united Sri Lanka.
