On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the focus of the Union Budget 2022-23 will be to modernize and make the agriculture sector smart. During this, the Prime Minister also discussed about the contribution of the budget in strengthening the agriculture sector.
PM Modi said that in the last seven years, the government has taken several initiatives for the agricultural value chain from seed to market. Along with this old systems have been improved. Addressing a post-budget webinar on Smart Agriculture, he said that the agriculture budget has increased manifold in the last six years. Loans to farmers have also been increased 2.5 times in seven years.
The Prime Minister said that seven main avenues have been suggested to make this budget smart and modern. These include natural farming on mission mode along the banks of the Ganges, five km wide corridors on both sides of the river, providing modern farming as well as providing regular banking facilities to 1.5 lakh post offices.
PM Modi called upon startups to come forward to create a network of soil testing laboratories in the country. He said that the management of agricultural residues (parali) is also necessary. For this also some measures have been suggested in the budget, which will reduce carbon emissions and farmers will also get additional income.
