Jaipur . On the eve of Holi, Rajasthan Police sent out a message via tweets, in which they called out the immortal characters of the Bollywood film ‘Sholay’, Jai and Veeru, to warn those creating ruckus during the festival. In the 1975 hit film, Amitabh Bachchan played the role of Jai, while Dharmendra played the role of Veeru.
The subject of Rajasthan Police’s tweets is based on characters from ‘Sholay’, including ‘Mausi’, who Dharmendra requested to celebrate his marriage with Hema Malini, who played the role of Basanti.
A tweet shows the scene where Dharmendra is hanging from a water tank and warning aunty by saying ‘jump jaanaga, will die’ while the people below are saying ‘aunty is ready’.
Police said, “Aunty may not be ready, but Rajasthan Police is ready.”
Another tweet said, “Holi may be drenched in color and fun. But don’t riot with H. Otherwise, Hah may lead to lock-up.”
However, social media users criticized the police for posting such tweets only during Holi.
A social media user said, “It would have been nice if the police had the courage to launch a similar campaign on some other religious event/festival.”
