Yes … The unique tradition of playing Holi with stones has been going on for centuries in Bhiluda village near Sagwada town of Kedungarpur district, tribal-dominated Vagad area of Udaipur division in Dakshinachal of Rajasthan.
This gruesome game, which has left many people bleeding and seriously injured on Holi, is exciting and sensational. This Holi of blood is known by the local people as “Raad Khela”.
This unique folk tradition of performing bravery has been going on for years in this tribal area of confluence of Rajasthan, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, in which people pelt stones and injure each other in the name of ‘Raad’.
In the present global era, new meanings and meanings of entertainment have changed due to the increasing spread of communication era, but on the occasion of Holi festival Lokaranjan, in the form of Holi ‘Raad’ of stones played in Bhiluda village, despite lakhs of persuasion of the state government and district administration. Nothing has changed and the village is known far and wide for its unique stone-playing Holi with its historic Ram-Krishna amalgamation Raghunath Temple.
On the evening of Dhulendi, the second day of Holi, the festival of colours, the ground near Raghunathji Temple in Bhiluda village offers a thrilling and mind-blowing sensational sight. Hundreds of stone-playing people are dressed in their traditional attire. Wearing a safa on the head and ghugru in the feet, shield and sling in the hands come to the field to fight with each other and divide into two groups.
Mad Mast Yeh troupes chanting Wagadi songs and “Horiya” hurl stones at each other with their hands and with ‘slings’, provoking the people of the front party.
