Unidentified thieves stole about one thousand kilograms of copper wire from a junk warehouse near Samola Chowk in Aravalli Vihar police station area of the city. The stolen copper wire is estimated to be between 2.5 to 3 lakh rupees. It is being told that this incident is late on Sunday night, due to which questions are also being raised on the police patrol system.
According to the information received, this incident of theft took place in the warehouse of Messrs Dinesh Aggarwal. Godown owner Dinesh Aggarwal said that like daily, he closed the warehouse at night and went home. Late night unidentified thieves broke the lock of the main door and stole copper wires kept inside. Surprisingly, there was a scrap of lakhs of rupees in the warehouse, but the thieves only targeted the copper wires.
Aggarwal said that in fact, copper wires are easily sold at high prices and their buyers do not inquire much, so thieves earn a big profit from them. Perhaps thinking this was attacked by the thieves. On opening the warehouse in the morning, the theft was detected, after which the warehouse owner lodged a complaint at the Aravalli Vihar police station. As soon as the information was received, the police reached the spot and inspected the scene.
Dinesh says that this is the first incident of theft in the area, after which they are now planning to install CCTV cameras in the warehouse to prevent such incidents in future.
It is noteworthy that recently incidents of wire theft from tubewells in the city were also reported. Now even big junk godowns have come under target of thieves, due to which serious questions are being raised on the police security and patrol system.
