New Delhi. It is every bowler’s dream to achieve a hat-trick in international cricket. If a bowler accomplishes this feat in his debut match, the happiness increases manifold. So far, 4 bowlers have taken a hat-trick in the debut match in One Day International. Bangladesh’s Taijul Islam first performed this miracle in ODI against Zimbabwe in 2014. After this, Kagiso Rabada of South Africa, Wanindu Hasaranga and Shehan Madhushanka of Sri Lanka have achieved this feat. Rabada took three wickets against Bangladesh in 2015, Hasaranga against Zimbabwe in 2017 and Madhushanka took three wickets in consecutive balls against Bangladesh in 2018.
Many years before Taijul, England’s fast bowler Chris Tremlett had a chance to become the first bowler to take a hat-trick on ODI debut, but due to luck not favoring him on the ‘hat-trick ball’, this opportunity was lost.

Tremlett took 4 wickets in his debut match
The tall Tremlett made his international debut on 21 June 2005 by playing an ODI against Bangladesh in Nottingham. Took 4 wickets for 32 runs in the debut match itself but unfortunately missed the hat-trick. After winning the toss and batting first in the match, England scored 391 runs losing four wickets in 50 overs. In this score, apart from the centuries of two batsmen Andrew Strauss (152) and Paul Collingwood (112*), Marcus Trescothick had contributed 85 runs. The start of Bangladesh chasing England’s score was spoiled by Chris Tremlett. He had dismissed Shahryar Nafees (10) and Tushar Imran (0) on the second and third balls of his fifth and 10th over of the innings. While Nafees was bowled, Tushar Imran was caught by wicketkeeper Jones.

The hat-trick ball hit the wicket but the bails did not fall.
This six feet seven inches tall bowler had a chance for a hat-trick. He almost did this but luck stood in his way. On the fourth ball of the over i.e. the hat-trick ball, the new batsman Mohammad Ashraful played a defensive shot and the ball rolled from his bat and hit the stumps but surprisingly, the bails did not fall. For this reason Ashraful was considered not out. This same Ashraful (94) later became the top scorer of Bangladesh. Bangladesh team was all out for 223 runs in 45.2 overs and had to face a defeat of 168 runs.

Took 17 wickets in England’s Ashes victory
Tremlett was considered one of the best bowlers in England. Due to his tall height, he was also successful in achieving bounce. However, due to frequent injuries, he could play only 12 Tests, 15 ODIs and one T20I. He took 53 wickets in Test cricket at an average of 27.00, 15 wickets in ODI at an average of 47.00 and two wickets in T20 at an average of 22.50. Six wickets for 48 runs was his best innings performance in Test cricket. He played a key role in England’s 3–1 series win against arch-rivals Australia in the 2010–11 Ashes. Tremlett took 17 wickets in the three tests of the series.

Increasing trend towards professional bodybuilding
Tremlett’s records in first class and List A matches have been very impressive. In 146 first class matches, he took 459 wickets at an average of 28.66 and in 133 List A matches, he took 180 wickets at an average of 27.78. After retiring from cricket, Tremlett turned towards professional body building. On Instagram, he keeps posting photos of himself working out in the gym with his wife. Many fans have made positive comments about her well-shaped body. People start comparing his body with WWE wrestler. Tremlett is often seen showing off his abs, biceps and triceps in photoshoots.
Let us tell you, when Tremlett started his cricket career, he was called ‘Twiggy’ because of his tall height and slim body, but by working out continuously, he has made his physique excellent. Apart from body building, he has also made weightlifting a profession.
