UP 5thPhase Voting: In the fifth phase, the campaigning for 61 Legislative Assembly seats in 12 districts ended at 6 pm on Friday. On the last day, veteran leaders of BJP, SP, Congress and BSP gave full force to make their party’s candidates win. Voting will be held on February 27 from 7 am to 6 pm. In this, 2.25 crore voters will decide the fate of 692 candidates. These include 1.20 crore males and about 1.05 lakh females. The number of third gender voters is also 1752.
In the fifth phase, polling will be held in 12 districts of five divisions (Ayodhya, Lucknow, Chitrakoot Dham, Prayagraj and Devipatan) Amethi, Rae Bareli, Sultanpur, Chitrakoot, Pratapgarh, Kaushambi, Prayagraj, Barabanki, Ayodhya, Bahraich, Shravasti and Gonda. Chief Electoral Officer Ajay Kumar Shukla said that all preparations have been completed for the fifth phase of elections. Necessary guidelines have also been given to the officers of the districts involved in this phase.
Reputation of many veterans at stake: In the fifth phase, the reputation of many veterans including six ministers of the state government is also at stake. Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya is contesting from Sirathu in Kaushambi. He is contesting against Union Minister Anupriya Patel’s sister and Pallavi Patel of Apna Dal Kameravadi against SP’s election symbol. Anupriya’s mother Krishna Patel is contesting from Pratapgarh Sadar from Apna Dal Kameravadi. Rural Development Minister Rajendra Pratap Singh alias Moti Singh is in the fray from the belt of Pratapgarh. Khadi and Village Industries Minister Siddharthnath Singh is the candidate from Prayagraj West. Minority Welfare Minister Nandgopal Gupta Nandi is contesting from Allahabad South, Social Welfare Minister Ramapati Shastri from Gonda’s Mankapur and Minister of State for Public Works Department Chandrika Prasad Upadhyay from Chitrakoot Sadar. Raghuraj Pratap Singh is once again in the fray from Kunda. Congress’s sitting MLA Aradhana Mishra Mona is contesting from Pratapgarh’s Rampur Khas. Former minister Tej Narayan Pandey alias Pawan Pandey is in the fray from Ayodhya. Former MP from Amethi Sanjay Singh is also trying his luck.
Two MLAs face-to-face on three seats: In this phase, there are three seats where two MLAs are contesting face to face. BJP MLA Praveen Singh Patel is in the fray from Phulpur seat of Prayagraj. Pratappur MLA Mujtaba Siddiqui, who left BSP, has been given ticket by SP from this seat. Similarly, BJP MLA Anupama Jaiswal is contesting from Bahraich Sadar seat, while SP has given ticket to Yasar Shah. Yasar is currently the MLA from Matera in Bahraich. At the same time, BJP MLA Dhirendra Ojha is in the fray from Raniganj seat of Pratapgarh, while SP has made RK Verma from Apna Dal (S) its candidate.
