Expansion
Through western Uttar Pradesh, Braj and Bundelkhand, the electoral caravan of Uttar Pradesh has now moved towards Purvanchal. Tomorrow i.e. on February 27, elections are to be held on 61 seats in 12 districts of the state.
Although the number of candidates in the electoral fray is 693, but the important battle is only between the four major parties. The one who will be able to win maximum number of seats in this phase will find it easy to get the key to power in Lucknow. At the moment there are some challenges between the victories and the political parties. Political parties cannot access the keys to power without overcoming those challenges.
Last time BJP had won
In 2017, out of the 61 seats for which elections are to be held, 47 were won by Bharatiya Janata Party candidates. Three seats went to the BJP’s alliance partner Apna Dal (Sonelal). Samajwadi Party candidates won five seats and Bahujan Samaj Party candidates on three. Two seats were won by independent candidates. In this one was Raja Bhaiya, who was called Bahubali, and on the other was Vinod Sonkar, who was considered close to him. One seat also went to the account of Congress.
What is the challenge before which party?
1. BJP : Maintaining the 2017 record and winning again 47 out of 61 seats. The opposition is raising the issue of stray animals in front of the BJP. At the same time, the challenge of saving the seat of Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya is also in front of the BJP. Keshav is contesting from Sirathu seat and the Samajwadi Party alliance has fielded Pallavi Patel, sister of Union Minister Anupriya Patel and Apna Dal (Communist) leader in front of him. The number of Patel voters in Sirathu is also very high.
2. Samajwadi Party : The big challenge before the Samajwadi Party is to regain its lost prestige. The BJP is besieging Akhilesh in these areas by accusing him of increasing crime during the SP government. In 2012, SP got 12 out of 28 seats in Prayagraj Mandal. In 2017 it came down to one. Getting back this lost support base is also a big challenge for the SP.
3. Bahujan Samaj Party : Leaving the BJP-SP behind and capturing the seats again. There is also a challenge to retain the three seats which were won in 2017. There is also a big challenge before the BSP to get back its support base here. Many big BSP leaders of this area have left the party. The party is also facing a challenge due to not having a big face.
4. Congress : There was a time when districts like Prayagraj, Amethi, Rae Bareli were included in the stronghold of Congress. The first Prime Minister of the country, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, used to contest elections from Phulpur seat of Prayagraj. Now the Congress has been completely cleared in Prayagraj. There is also no significant support base in the surrounding districts. In Amethi and Rae Bareli, there has definitely been a strong position, but now here also the BJP and SP alliance is giving a tough challenge. In such a situation, the Congress has a tough challenge to save its legacy.
