Shock to non-BJP, non-Congress politics
The future prospects of non-BJP, non-Congress politics were also hidden in the results of the assembly elections of five states. But except Punjab, the results of other states could not strengthen these possibilities as expected.
Yes, the very weak performance of the Congress has definitely provided an opportunity for the unity campaign of non-Congress, non-BJP parties to intensify in future. In fact, for non-BJP, non-Congress politics to be strong, it was necessary that at least in Uttar Pradesh, like in Punjab, there should be a change of power.
Apart from this, non-BJP, non-Congress parties should come in the role of kingmakers in Goa, Manipur and Uttarakhand. The Trinamool Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party, the leader of this campaign, also applied full force for this. While the Trinamool Congress went to the polls with full enthusiasm in Goa and Manipur, the Aam Aadmi Party threw full force in Punjab, Goa and Uttarakhand.
To give a fillip to this politics, Mamta Banerjee opened a front twice in support of SP in Uttar Pradesh. However, apart from the significant changes in Punjab, the results that gave power to this campaign did not come from any other state. The BJP managed to save its power in all the four states.
Congress laid the foundation for a strong future
Non-BJP, non-Congress parties may not have achieved significant success except Punjab, but the weak performance of Congress has laid the foundation for a strong future of this politics. The Congress not only lost power in Punjab, but also failed to take advantage of being the biggest force against the BJP in Uttarakhand, Manipur and Goa. Due to this, the pressure on the Congress to accept the hegemony of regional parties or to reconstitute the UPA will increase.
Why is the non-Congress opposition in disarray?
Congress has not been seen challenging the BJP even once in the last eight years. The difficulty of non-Congress parties is that it is impossible to shake the BJP from power at the Center without the Congress getting stronger. Since the Congress itself has been immersed in contradictions for a long time, the non-Congress, non-BJP opposition is in turmoil. These parties want the Congress to accept the leadership of regional parties and support them in the fight against the BJP.
In this sequence, Mamta Banerjee has recently launched a campaign to unite the non-Congress opposition in the name of federalism. At present, Trinamool Congress of AAP, SP, RJD, TRS, DMK have got support in this campaign.
