Earlier, BJP President Nadda while congratulating on the victory in the MLC elections said that after the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, the Bharatiya Janata Party has created history by winning a landslide victory in the Legislative Council. My best wishes and congratulations to all the newly elected members. This victory has stamped the double engine government in UP.
BJP candidates had already won 9 out of 36 seats unopposed. Its candidates won 24 out of 27 seats on Tuesday. Of the three seats, two have gone to independents and one has been won by Rajabhaiya’s Jansatta Dal.
Of the 36 seats in which independents have won, one is from Varanasi, the parliamentary constituency of PM Modi. Annapurna Singh, wife of mafia don Brijesh Singh, has won from here. The second seat is from Azamgarh. Vikrant Singh Rishu, son of BJP MLC Yashwant Singh has won from here.
The account of Samajwadi Party could not even open in the MLC elections. Even in districts like Azamgarh, Ghazipur and Jaunpur, SP candidates have lost. Whereas during the assembly elections in these districts, the SP performed well. The SP candidates, who won all the assembly seats in Azamgarh and Ghazipur, lost their agreement in both the districts.
