Lucknow. YS Sachan, an accused in the NRHM scam during the Mayawati government in UP, died under suspicious circumstances in Lucknow jail. Then the jail administration had claimed that Sachan had committed suicide by cutting veins all over his body with a surgical blade, but now the special CBI court has considered it as murder and conspiracy instead of suicide. In this case, apart from the top police officers, the then jail, deputy jailer and prisoner guard of Lucknow jail have been summoned on August 8, considering it to be a part of this conspiracy. Dr. Sachan was arrested in the NRHM scam. He died in June 2011 in Lucknow Jail. Sachan’s family had already suspected a conspiracy to kill him, but the jail administration denied it. Let us inform that in this scam, strong minister Babu Singh Kushwaha and Principal Secretary Pradeep Shukla are also accused in this scam and have gone to jail.
In the CBI court, Dr. Sachan’s wife Malti Sachan had applied. On this, Special Judge Samridhi Mishra has summoned the accused. The special thing is that the CBI has twice filed the closure report in the court, calling Sachan’s death a suicide. The police officers who have been summoned by the court on August 8 are Karamveer Singh, the then DGP, VK Gupta, who was ADG, Subhash Kumar Singh, the then IG Zone of Lucknow. Apart from these, the court has also called the then jailer BS Mukund, deputy jailer Sunil Kumar Singh, chief warden Babu Ram Dubey and prisoner guard Pahindra Singh to present their case.
Dr. Sachan died on 26 June 2011 in Lucknow Jail. Being suspicious of the case, the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court handed over the investigation to the CBI on 14 July 20111. The CBI had given a closure report on September 27, 2012, calling it a suicide. Malti Sachan challenged the closure report. Then the court ordered the CBI to investigate again. After the investigation, the CBI once again gave the closure report on 9 August 2017. The court had dismissed this closure report on 19 November 2019.
