Unnao. The District Horticulture Officer of Unnao has been suspended by the Yogi Adityanath government for painting the Samajwadi Party (SP) flag colors, red and green, before counting of votes in the swings of a children’s park on March 5. On the report of Unnao District Magistrate, Additional Chief Secretary (Horticulture) has suspended District Horticulture Officer Sunil Kumar.
Sunil Kumar has now been attached to the Lucknow headquarters.
Sunil Kumar allegedly painted swings and grills in the color of the SP’s flag at Nirala Udyan Park near the Unnao Collectorate, whose pictures and videos went viral on social media platforms.
Sunil Kumar had then said that the color of the swings was the same before but was not visible due to fading.
On 6 March, the park’s swings were repainted, with yellow inserted between red and green.
At the same time, District Magistrate Ravindra Kumar had issued a show cause notice to the Horticulture Officer.
He had also sent a report to the government recommending action.
After this, Additional Chief Secretary M.V.S. Rami Reddy suspended the District Horticulture Officer.
The government-owned Nirala Udyan (Park) is operated by the Department of Horticulture and Food Processing. It is designed for children and is equipped with swings apart from other play items.
The District Magistrate of Unnao has confirmed the report of the suspension of the District Horticulture Officer.
