Gorakhpur. Under the Khelo India University Games, 190 rooms will be booked in the hotels of the city for the participating players and team staff in the rowing competition to be held in Ramgarhtal from May 27 to 31, hosted by Gorakhpur. The event will be such that after this a series of water sports competitions will start here. Commissioner Ravi Kumar NG gave this information to Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Sports Navneet Sehgal while holding a meeting with officials of various departments related to the event on Thursday. Sehgal had joined the meeting online. He said that rowing competition under Khelo India University Games is a great opportunity to promote water sports in Gorakhpur. According to the intention of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, this competition will increase the trend at the local level and create new saplings of players in the field of water sports.
He said that the event should be such that it remains unforgettable for every participant and team staff. Commissioner Ravi Kumar NG told them that coordinated efforts are being made by various departments with full commitment to make the competition unprecedented. During the event, the commissioner reviewed point-by-point the preparations being made by different departments regarding the security, transportation, catering, health and all other facilities for the players. In the meeting, Chief Development Officer Sanjay Meena, Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Singh Sogarwal, Additional District Magistrate (City) Vineet Singh, SP Traffic Dr. MP Singh, Regional Sports Officer Ale Haider, District Information Officer Prashant Srivastava and other departments of Tourism, GDA, Transport, Education etc. officers were present.
One lane reserved for spectators
A large number of spectators are expected for the rowing competition. In order to avoid any inconvenience to the spectators in watching the competition, one lane on the Ramgarhtal road will be kept reserved during the competition period. Means there will be no vehicular traffic on this lane, only spectators will be present.
