Varanasi. Amidst tight security, the survey work of Gyanvapi Masjid located in Varanasi, UP has started from today. On Thursday, the senior division judge had ordered a round-the-clock survey of the mosque. The judge had said that if needed, the district magistrate and the police commissioner can get the survey work done by opening or breaking the locks installed anywhere in the mosque. Apart from court commissioner Ajay Kumar Mishra, two other court commissioners Vishal Kumar Singh and Ajay Singh are also participating in this survey. The survey work will run from 8 am to 12 noon. This can be done everyday till May 16. During the survey, a map will be made, video and photography will also be done. The report of the survey is to be submitted in the court on May 17. Meanwhile, there is also news that the basement of the mosque will be opened today. There can be snakes and because of this many snakes have been called by the administration. A large number of soldiers have been deployed around the mosque. Lawyers for both Hindu and Muslim sides are also present in the mosque premises to monitor the survey.
Earlier, Senior Division Judge of Civil Affairs Ravi Kumar Diwakar had ordered the survey to be conducted and its report to the court by May 10, but the Muslim side had obstructed the survey. The lawyers for the Muslim side had alleged that the court commissioner Ajay Kumar Mishra was acting unilaterally. The Muslim side had demanded his removal, but the court did not remove Ajay and put two more survey commissioners together. Along with this, the DM and Police Commissioner of Varanasi were also ordered to complete the survey work in any case.
Meanwhile, on Friday, a lawyer named Huzaifa Ahmadi raised the issue in the Supreme Court in the bench of Chief Justice NV Ramana and sought a stay. Justice Ramana said on this that no judge can grant stay without seeing the case file. He has not even fixed a date for hearing the matter further. However, Huzaifa Ahmadi’s petition against the order of the Allahabad High Court to complete the hearing of all matters related to Mathura Krishna Janmasthan in 4 months has been sent to the bench of Justice DY Chandrachud on the orders of the Chief Justice. The date of its hearing has not been fixed yet.
