Lucknow. The Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh has given instructions to investigate madrassas in the state under the modern madrassa scheme. In a circular issued by Uttar Pradesh (UP) deputy secretary Shakeel Ahmed Siddiqui, a committee has been directed to be set up to investigate madrassas in the state.
According to a government circular, this charge will be on the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Block Education Officer and Block Development Officer, District Magistrate. The committee will investigate the buildings, land, rent, teachers and students etc. of madrasas and prepare its investigation report by May 15 and send it to CM Yogi.
There are more than 7,000 madrassas associated with the madrassa modernization scheme in Uttar Pradesh. Earlier, the Uttar Pradesh government had decided to organize training for madrassa teachers to make them proficient in the online mode of teaching.
The Department of School Education and Literacy, Government of India is implementing the Umbrella Scheme for Providing Quality Education to Madarsas, Minorities (SPEMM), which is made up of two schemes – Scheme for Providing Quality Education in Madarsas (SPQEM) and Minority Institutions. Infrastructure Development Scheme of (IDMI).
According to the Department of School Education and Literacy, the Scheme for Providing Quality Education in Madrasas (SPQEM) is an attempt to bring about qualitative improvement in madrassas.
