New Delhi . The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has recently issued new guidelines on the Numeric UPI ID solution with the objective of increasing the customer experience for payments related to the UPI number. The new guidelines will be effective from 1 April.
Following these new guidelines will be necessary for UPI Member Bank, UPI apps and third party provider.
According to the new guidelines, the UPI ID associated with the inactive mobile number will also be inactive. If a UPI user’s registered mobile number in the bank is inactive for a long time, then the UPI ID of the user will also be unlink and the user will not be able to use UPI service.
In such a situation, every user who uses UPI service will need to ensure that the mobile number registered in his bank is active.
UPI service can be used without any hassle only after keeping the bank record update with the right mobile number. There may be trouble about the UPI service related to the inactive or re -assigned mobile number.
According to the rules of the Telecom Department, a new user can be assigned after 90 days if disconnected. If a customer’s mobile number is not being used with calls, messages or data, then telecom providers deactivate such number. These numbers are called recycles or cheered numbers.
Under the new guidelines, the user’s bank-verified mobile number will serve as the User’s UPI Identifier. With which the user can use different UPI apps.
On the other hand, the bank and UPI application will also need to update their mobile number records every week, so that the recycling or modified number can be protected from the mistakes.
The application will need to seek permission from users before assigning the Numeric UPI ID. Users will have to actively opt in for this feature, this is opt out in the default setting.
In a situation, if there is some delay in the verification of NPCI, then the UPI application can temporarily solve the problems related to numeric UPI ID. Documentation of these cases will be necessary and under inspection objectives, it will be necessary to report to NPCI every month.
